Freeport police Sgt. Jay Newton was licked by a drunken suspect and now they are considering charging the young man with assault.
Ryan faces assualt charges for licking officer
Halverson, who was being booked on a public intoxication charge, was charged with assault on an officer. He remains in the Brazoria County Jail on $10,000 bond.
Freeport police say this is serious because he could have spread a dangerous disease to the officer. Unless they were having unprotected sex at the time or Ryan has the plague, about the worst that could happen is Sgt. Newton could catch a cold. This goes into the files as ridiculous over kill by law enforcement.
