There was a tragic bus wreck last week in Texas when a bus carrying 55 passengers has a blowout and flipped. It was run by a company that was not licensed. Texas Sen. Kim Brimer wants the federal government to get involved or for the state of Texas to create a new state office to deal with the situation.
There is a national data base where details of bus companies are available and it would have been very simple to check if the company was licensed or not. This was not done and is part of what led to the tragedy. Instead of starting yet another agency in Texas that would waste money and do nothing, why not set up the links to this site with the Texas Department of Transportation site and advertise the connection here in Texas?

| “You impose severe criminal penalties,” Sen. Brimer said, adding that he believes Angel De La Torre, the owner of the company that was operating illegally when its bus crashed Friday, could face such charges. Seventeen people were killed in the crash. |
| “I am not a lawyer, I am a human being,” he told reporters Tuesday. “But I believe the federal government is pursuing that [the possibility of criminal charges] right now as we speak.” |
| He later added he was not aware of any specific investigation by federal authorities, but said federal investigators studying the crash will consider whether Mr. De La Torre should be charged. |
| “It’s the only way to make sure these types of events don’t repeat, and there needs to be severe criminal penalties,” Sen. Brimer said. |
